Don't Get Scammed

Social Media Scam Alert!
Don't fall victim to a hacked or cloned friend account! This scam involves the scammer contacting you pretending to be a friend locked out of their account and they need your help to get reset. They will ask you to provide them with the two-factor authentication (2FA) code being sent to your phone number or email, but it's your account they're resetting. How to avoid getting scammed by a hacked or cloned account:

  • Never share two-factor authentication codes.
  • Call or message the person using the number you have in your phone or email contacts or via a different platform to confirm it's a legitimate request.
  • Change your account passwords. If you receive an email or text with a two-factor authentication request and know it wasn't you who made the request, consider this a sign that someone is trying to access your account.

Scammers Posing As Deputies!
